Coping Mechanisms is an installation composed of a variety of found vintage sound mixers and storage shelving. Visitors were invited to quietly sit in the space and listen to a recording made by the artist. Being present in this space is meant to inspire a kind of reverie, one that conveys the process of reflection that comes from experiencing a trauma and the meditative acceptance that results from processing that occurrence.
Part 6 at 8:47 (No Termina), 2019
8:47
Part 6 at 8:47 (No Termina) is a recording comprised of 62 individual recordings of 10 seconds each. These recordings were made at 8:47 AM and 8:47 PM each day for the duration of a month. They were then combined to form a track 8 minutes and 47 seconds long, stretched, shrunk, and repeated at different intervals according to the date recorded. The resulting audio is a strange and rhythmic din of noise, as arbitrary and complex as life itself.
